We can never erase what happened to our daughter but we can pour every ounce of our energy into preventing other young people from rape and sexual assault. Sending your child to boarding school, summer camp, or even to college, should not be a dangerous decision.
Alexander Prout has served as the Managing Director Chief Operating Officer for Morgan Stanley Investment Management Global Sales and Distribution Organization. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2015, Alex served as President and CEO of Invesco Asset Management Japan Ltd. Alex began his career in 1987 as an analyst with Merrill Lynch’s investment Banking Division and quickly rose through the ranks. He spent the majority of his career working in the Asian market. By 2001 Alex was promoted to the Head of the Funds Business Division and in 2003 became the become head of MLIM Americas third-party bank distribution effort. Mr. Prout was born and raised in New York City, is a graduate of St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire and earned his BSLA, Japanese Studies from Georgetown University.
Alex recently joined the board of Promoting Awareness | Victim Empowerment (PAVE) a national nonprofit that works both to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence through social advocacy, education and survivor support. Alex and his family were brutally thrown into the spotlight after a highly publicized rape case of his daughter Chessy Prout at St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire. Alex has been an outspoken supporter of shattering silence through his steadfast commitment of his family by becoming a public speaker for PAVE’s Parent Ambassador Program and the creation of PAVE’s national #IHaveTheRightTo campaign created by his daughter Chessy.
Alex states, “There is nothing worse than seeing your child hurt. Our pain as parents of course pales to the suffering of our daughter Chessy. Young people are sexually assaulted on campuses like St. Paul’s School, where Chessy attended, at an alarming rate. We can never erase what happened to our daughter but we can pour every ounce of our energy into preventing other young people from rape and sexual assault. Sending your child to boarding school, summer camp, or even to college, should not be a dangerous decision.”
Because of the Prout’s family strength and deciding to speak publicly and educate parents and students on the issue of sexual assault they have started a national conversation at dinner tables around the country that this could happen to your child or someone you know. Most recently Alex spoke publicly on behalf of PAVE at the Georgetown Day High School Washington Area Independent School Summit on Sexual Assault and Consent. As part of his work on PAVE’s Board Alex will be spearheading the efforts to educate and prepare families in how to make an informed decision on where to send their child, as well as ways that institutions can better keep children safe.
